Meet Your Doula
“‘It’s a mess. … You’ve lost everything…’ (Astrid)
‘Why is this so important to you all of a sudden?’ (Hiccup)
‘Because I want to remember what you say. Right now.'” (Astrid)
How To Train Your Dragon, Dreamworks Studios, 2010

It’s hard to fit a whole life into a paragraph, but here’s the short version:
My name is Rowan Hawkins (she/they), and I bring nearly three decades of living, working, and learning into my work as a Full Spectrum Doula, specializing with miscarriages and stillborn births. My career path has been eclectic—spanning universities, hospitality, medical offices, and finance—but in every role, I found myself drawn to supporting others, keeping things organized, and creating calm in the middle of complexity. I hold a bachelor’s degree in science with a minor in anthropology, and I’ve always been fascinated by the ways we care for one another.
I was raised in a Wiccan/Pagan household by a Gardnerian priest and Wiccan priestess, surrounded by ritual, storytelling, and deep respect for life’s cycles. From an early age, I practiced energy work and tarot, learning to sit with both joy and grief daily. That foundation helps me approach each client with empathy, presence, and a belief that every path is valid. With this approach, I aim to be entirely secular first and will only implement my magick and Wiccan knowledge with my client’s express wishes. I am also a mother of my one-and-only rainbow baby, who was born via (very!) medically necessary c-section.
Today, I describe myself as an alternative, goth, witch and mother who rides motorcycles, plays the Irish folk harp, respects all forms of life and death (animal, human, and non-physical alike), and finds beauty in music, myth, and human connection. I’ve known great love, deep loss, and the slow, intentional work of rebuilding. That journey led me to train as a Death, Birth, and Postpartum Doula in the same year—because life, in all its beginnings and endings, deserves to be met with skill, compassion, and care.
As a Doula, I Support:
~ Non-religious practices first ~
~ Skin-to-skin as much as humanly possible ~
~ Breast/Chest is preferred, but fed is best ~
~ Cesarean births are natural births ~
~ Abortion is healthcare ~
~ Vaccines save lives ~
~ Advocacy, knowledge, and empowerment for all ~
~ Death is natural and healthy to discuss ~
I Currently Volunteer With:
Greeley UCHealth (Inpatient and Emergency Departments)
The Gathering Place (Denver, CO)
Greeley Banner Health (Hospice)
I also encourage open-book business practices. My hourly rate will not change on service type; I firmly believe that putting more/less value on life, death, and living is absurd and I give all of my knowledge with every client.
If you have any questions as to my costs and billing practices, please feel free to ask using the form below:
Why a Dragon?
Every culture around the world has a recognizable creature they see as a dragon. There are Chinese, Japanese, and Korean lung dragons alongside the well known European and North American winged counterparts. Dragons are symbols of our fears and challenges at their most raw and carnal form, entities of nature in supernatural and magickal ways. Birth and Death are two halves on the same coin; an inevitability that is so integral to our existence, they can be profoundly beautiful and terrifying. However, these are not dragons that can be defeated.
Ashen Moon carries the visage of a dragon so that instead of being conquered or feared, that the birthing and dying process can be seen as a companion we walk alongside for a while and see for all of its terror and beauty.
We Don’t Fight or Run, We Walk With Our Dragons Together.
Why Sex Positive and Kink Friendly?
Ashen Moon firmly believes that love does not end with pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, or in death. How we show and receive love with our partner(s) changes its route and may look different, but by openly discussing new ways for that love to take shape it opens the door to all families, all dynamics, and ensures that is not sidelined or forgotten entirely.
We Enable Love So We Can Continue to Feel Loved in our Darkest Hours.
